2.2 Scope of collection, sorting and recycling
The waste management partners of Duales System Deutschland GmbH collect, sort and recycle sales packaging.
Sales packaging is packaging that is offered in a sales unit and accrues at the private consumer's premises, i.e. in private households and at comparable accrual points. However, sales packaging also includes packaging units of the retail trade, catering trade and other services that make possible the delivery of merchandise to private consumers. These packaging units are called service packaging units. These include, for example, plastic carrier bags, paper carrier bags, disposable dishes and disposable cutlery.
Transport packaging facilitates the transport of merchandise and protects it from getting damaged. As a rule, transport packaging is incurred by distributors or in the retail trade – and not by private consumers. Transport packaging includes pallets, shrink wrapping film and cartons that contain several sales units.
