Design for Recycling
- Packages are not always designed to be maximally amenable to recovery.
- Certain material combinations and/or other features impede ecologically efficient recovery of the raw materials used.
- Packages should be designed so as to ensure that in a given recovery infrastructure they are channeled into the most ecologically efficient recovery path and a maximized proportion of the materials and/or energy originally involved can be rendered usable for subsequent applications.
Analyses
- Determining the recovery path in Germany’s recovery infrastructure
- Examining the package for features that influence the method of recovery and the yields achievable
Result
Potential weak points in regard to package recoverability
Analytical report with statements on:
- present-day recovery path
- recoverability in this recovery path
- identification of features that foster or frustrate recoverability
- initial pointers to possible optimizations
