No circular economy without packaging recycling! Too many recyclable packaging materials still pass by the Yellow Bin or the Yellow Bag, the glass containers and the waste paper bins. Littering, wrong waste separation, often without intention, but simply careless. The consequences: The input for recycling is missing and, at the same time, significant CO2 savings are not realised. And the economy may fail to meet the legally prescribed recycling quotas.

It is precisely these quotas that will reach their limits in 2022 and pose a major challenge to industry. To counteract this, the Forum Rezyklat and the initiative "Mülltrennung wirkt" (Waste separation works) have developed a joint key visual for an information campaign that combines the topics of waste separation and recycling. In both platforms, Grüner Punkt is actively involved in the development of practical as well as consumer-oriented solutions for recyclable packaging and supports this activity.

"Citizens must recognise their key role in successful packaging recycling. Because only if the population separates and collects packaging correctly from residual waste can the recyclables be kept in the cycle and resources and CO2 emissions be saved," says Jörg Deppmeyer, managing director of Der Grüne Punkt.
