The parent company Der Grüne Punkt Holding GmbH & Co. KG (GP HOL) essentially acts as a holding company for the group. With the Der Grüne Punkt® trademark[1], it helped introduce and establish the ‘dual system’ in Germany and stands for intelligent take-back systems and the development and marketing of innovative recyclates and services.

[1] The trademark ‘Der Grüne Punkt’ (The Green Dot) on packaging indicates that a financial contribution has been paid to a national packaging recycling organisation in accordance with the principles laid down in European Directive 94/62 (amended by Directives 2004/12/EC, 2005/20/EC and Regulation (EC) No 219/2009) and national laws. The trademark ‘Der Grüne Punkt’, created to finance the dual system, is protected worldwide and is one of the most internationally recognised trademarks. It is used in many countries as a financing symbol for packaging recycling.
The core business of Der Grüne Punkt – Duales System Deutschland GmbH (DGP) consists of organising and implementing the nationwide collection, sorting and recycling of sales and outer packaging. By participating in the dual system, distributors of sales and outer packaging are exempt from their independent take-back obligation.
As the world's first dual system, DGP has been recycling used sales packaging since 1991, i.e. for almost 35 years, and returning the raw materials obtained from it to the economic cycle.
In addition to its core business as a service provider for extended producer responsibility, Der Grüne Punkt is a leading supplier of secondary raw materials for plastic recyclates.
Systec Plastics GmbH, production site Hörstel (SPH), manufactures plastic recyclates for the international plastics processing industry. At its Hörstel site, post-consumer polypropylene (PP) packaging waste from the dual systems is processed
Systec Plastics Eisfeld GmbH (SPE) also produces plastic recyclates for the plastics processing industry worldwide. It processes low-density polyethylene (LDPE) packaging waste, which also comes from household collection (yellow bins/yellow bags).
The high-quality compounds, regranulates and regrinds produced at the sites are used as substitutes for new material in the plastics industry. The post-consumer recyclates are sold under the brand name Systalen® to international customers in various industries and are used in the manufacture of new plastic packaging or products.
