Activities and TEAM

The Der Grüne Punkt Group combines comprehensive expertise across the entire recycling cycle – from licensing and collection to the reprocessing and recycling of plastics.

Der Grüne Punkt – Duales System Deutschland GmbH, based in Cologne, is a leading provider in the field of extended producer responsibility (EPR). As the operator of a dual system, Der Grüne Punkt organises the nationwide collection, sorting and recycling of sales and outer packaging in Germany – in line with the respective market share of the licensing companies. In addition, the company offers a wide range of complementary services, such as calculating and evaluating the recyclability of packaging, possible areas of application for recycled materials, and practical online and face-to-face seminars and workshops for companies.

With Systec Plastics plants, the Group operates two mechanical recycling plants: one in Hörstel (North Rhine-Westphalia) for processing polypropylene (PP) and one in Eisfeld (Thuringia) for recycling low-density polyethylene (LDPE). There, used plastic packaging from private households is processed into high-quality post-consumer recyclates that can be reused for the production of packaging and products. In this way, the Group makes a key contribution to resource conservation and the circular economy.

The group's business activities are being expanded through the development and implementation of innovative solutions in the field of chemical recycling. In cooperation with partner companies, pyrolysis oil is produced from mixed plastic waste.

In order to strengthen the recyclability of polyolefins, the group is expanding its strategic activities beyond PP and LDPE recycling in Germany. The affiliated sorting plant for lightweight packaging in Milan, Synextra, and the joint venture in Austria at the TriPlast sorting plant ensure a continuous supply of valuable secondary raw materials for efficient plastic recycling processes. TriPlast is currently the most modern sorting plant in Europe and one of the most advanced sorting plants for plastic waste worldwide.

We are passionate about developing innovations for the circular economy and are actively committed to a sustainable future. We tackle challenges with team spirit, because together we grow stronger. Two initiatives have been launched to strengthen the community and create transparency: our InfoPunkt and the Value Teams.

The InfoPunkt: All employees are invited to company-wide meetings on a regular basis, at least once a quarter. Here, the latest information, data and facts from the respective departments are presented and discussed. An integral part of every InfoPunkt is the introduction of new colleagues and the celebration of employee anniversaries.

The Value Teams: The teams are made up of employees from different departments and have set themselves the goal of improving networking between all colleagues and strengthening communication. To this end, surveys have been and continue to be conducted in order to use the results to set up targeted programmes and joint activities, such as

  • the buddy programme: Each new employee is assigned an experienced colleague to help them get started in the company.
  • Cheers & Chat: These popular meetings during regular working hours provide an opportunity to get to know new colleagues and talk to long-standing employees from other departments.
  • the Photo challenge: Anyone can submit photos on the theme of recycling, and a winning photo is chosen at the end of the challenge.

The good working relationships in a future-oriented industry such as the circular economy are also reflected in the numerous long-term employees. Our aim is to deliver outstanding results, not only for our customers, but also for the environment and society. Sustainable, economical, ecological and socially responsible behaviour is firmly anchored in the corporate culture of the Der Grüne Punkt Group. These principles are laid down in the Code of Conduct and are binding for all employees.
