Systec Plastics GmbH creates ultra-pure regrinds and granulates made from polypropylene (PP). Approved under Germany’s Federal Immission Protection Act, the facility possesses an output capacity of 19,000 t PP/a.

Basic materials are post-consumer plastics from the German dual system. All starting materials delivered to the facility are first checked for their composition. Only consignments that confirm to the specifications stipulated will be passed for further processing.

In several comminution and separation stages, the valuable plastic is first processed to create regrinds. After this, labels, content residues and other foreign substances, plus PP film constituents, are removed from the material.

In the extruder, the regrind is homogenized by Systec, microfiltered and (if the customer so wishes) also compounded. The result of the process is various quality-tested Systalen granulates and compounds.

Systec Plastics GmbH, Hörstel, Germany, was founded in 2010, and is owned by DSD – Duales System Holding GmbH & Co. KG. It began to produce granules and regrinds in April 2011.

Systec Plastics Eisfeld GmbH is using the latest equipment technology to produce granules and compounds of PP and polyethylene (LDPE and HDPE)

Systec Plastics Eisfeld GmbH is using the latest equipment technology to produce granules and compounds of PP and polyethylene (LDPE and HDPE). The raw materials for this – for example, packaging – originate from the collections of the dual system and from the industry.

Systec Plastics Eisfeld GmbH is one of the largest manufacturers of plastic granules from post consumer waste in Europe. Marketed under the brand Systalen, these products are a replacement for new merchandise in the pipe and injection molding industries.

The Systec Plastics Eisfeld GmbH possesses a widely diversified fund of corporate expertise in plastics recycling – for processing used plastics into granulate. The chemical structure of the materials is thus retained.

The presorted plastic packages are inspected for impurities and comminuted. The regrind thus created is washed, and in water basins any foreign substances are removed, using a sink-or-swim principle of separation, utilizing the different densities of the plastics concerned. Polyethylene has a lower density than water, which means it is lighter and floats to the top.

This enables different types of plastic to be easily separated. The washed, homogenous regrind is dried and then homogenized, microfiltered and compounded in an extruder. The result of the process is various quality-tested Systalen granulates and compounds.
