With Nestlé Germany and DUO PLAST AG, one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of stretch films and stretch hoods, we have realised an innovative new joint project: Stretch hoods in whose mid layer at least 20% post-consumer recyclate from the Yellow Bag is used for the first time.

This is a real milestone in secondary film and transport packaging, as so far only PCR from post-commercial sources has been used in stretch hoods which are used as transport and load securing in the industry.

We are very proud that this innovative product development was honoured with both the German Packaging Award 2024 in the Logistics & Material Flow category and the WorldStar Packaging Award 2025 in the Packaging Materials and Components category.

These important awards for the three project partners also show once again how important and fruitful the partnership-based cooperation along the value chain is.

Also another joint project of Nestlé Germany & Der Grüne Punkt represents an innovative breakthrough in the recycling of post consumer film waste:

Thanks to technical innovations and intensive teamwork, it has been possible to produce a particularly pure Systalen® LDPE recyclate that can be used in films. This means that PCR film waste from household collection (yellow bag & yellow garbage can) can be used again as film, i.e. film thus becomes film again, packaging becomes packaging again.

While there is an exsting closed loop for rigid plastics from packaging waste, films have so far lagged behind. Recyclates from them came back into use in rather simple products, but mostly not in films.

Therefore also this joint project of Nestlé Germany and Der Grüne Punkt is a milestone for all parties involved.
