Design4Recycling (D4R) – Prevent sales bans!

Recyclable packaging will soon be mandatory – you should be prepared by August 12, 2026

The issue of packaging recyclability will gain momentum at the latest when the CEN guidelines are announced. Thus, the right Design4Recycling (D4R) is becoming increasingly important, because with the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) adopted in 2025, the recyclability of your packaging will determine the marketability of your product. This means time is running in order to address this issue and familiarize yourself with the legal requirements and options, because packaging changes cannot usually be made overnight.

Der Grüne Punkt has been working intensively for years on the recyclability of packaging and the exciting topic of Design4Recycling. In this seminar, our team of D4R experts will explain clearly how recyclability can be measured. You will learn what to look out for when developing recyclable and therefore sustainable packaging, and how you can improve the recyclability of existing packaging materials. Of course, we will also discuss the German minimum standard.

Our practical approach: Since we don't want to leave it at theory level, we are happy to discuss packaging examples from our seminar participants on request.

For your background: The European Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), came into force on 11th February 2025. Among other things, it will ban the sale of sales packaging with a recyclability of less than 70 per cent from 2030. In addition, minimum recycled content in plastic packaging must be taken into account in the future.

Companies should therefore familiarize themselves with the PPWR requirements at an early stage and design their packaging to be recycling-friendly. Financial incentives also encourage the production and marketing of easily recyclable packaging.

After this seminar in English language

» you will have an overview of policy requirements,

Der Grüne Punkt services around D4R and recycability

New: Send us your packaging!

Do you have questions about the recyclability of your packaging? Then please send us an example of your packaging after you have registered for the seminar. We need photos of the packaging as well as the corresponding packaging data (specification of the packaging manufacturer). We will then – if you agree – incorporate it into the practical part of the event.

If there are too many, we will unfortunately need to make a selection.
