Berlin, 6 November 2018. In 2017, Der Grüne Punkt and the German Packaging Institute inaugurated a  new series of congresses, at which students of packaging technology, design and marketing get together with international specialists and practitioners from companies, NGOs and research institutes. The event is being hosted by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN). The discussions, workshops and presentations are themed around central issues, trends and packaging design best practice chosen for crucial future relevance. One of the congress’s paramount aspirations: boldly confident lateral thinking.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural congress, the event is being repeated on 6 November 2018. Once again, a “World Café” offers plenty of scope for free-association thinking. An international array of experts from Germany, Austria, France and Indonesia offer valuable insights and experience in this context. Specific aspects are then addressed by five parallel workshops, where the students work on sustainable packages for fruit and vegetables, analyze flexible plastic packages against the background of the closed-cycle economy, research sustainable material cycles, and look at the world from the viewpoint of environmentalist organizations.
