Cologne, Amsterdam, 25 April 2018. Der Grüne Punkt has emerged as the winner in the final of the competition for the “Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2018” prize launched by Crain and Plastics Recyclers Europe. “We’re delighted by this important international accolade,” says Michael Wiener, CEO of Der Grüne Punkt. “Against some very prestigious competition, we won yet again with our innovative Systalen PRIMUS for sales packages.”
“This important prize is a huge honor, and an incentive to progress our chosen strategy,” concurs a gratified Dr. Markus Helftewes, Managing Director of Der Grüne Punkt. “With Systalen PRIMUS, which is produced using raw materials from the Yellow Sack, we bring packages from the supermarket shelves back to the supermarket shelves, thus closing the cycle. This innovation proved persuasive for the jury.”
In the “Recycled Plastic Packaging Product of the Year” category, Der Grüne Punkt had entered its premium recyclate Systalen PRIMUS HDPE for packages used for manufacturing Emsal bottles from Werner & Mertz, which are available on shop shelves. Werner & Mertz and Der Grüne Punkt are partners in the Recyclate Initiative.
The “Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2018”, adjudged in five categories, aim to upgrade the perceived importance of recycled-plastic products, and thus pay due tribute to the efforts of the European plastics recycling industry. Insights are offered into recyclate utilization, product design and innovative production processes. The prizes were awarded today under the aegis of the “Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRS)” in Amsterdam.
