Cologne, 13 August 2020. Plastic recyclates made of waste from the Yellow Sack – are they smelly and always gray? Can they be used to manufacture park benches at best? These are just some of the many prejudices that producers like Der Grüne Punkt are facing even though there have long been many products around that prove the opposite to be true. “Many users just don’t dare to address the subject,” says Jörg Deppmeyer, Managing Director of Der Grüne Punkt. “We want to inform people about what is actually feasible and how a good product made of recycled plastics is obtained as efficiently and dependably as possible.”
For this purpose, the German Packaging Institute (dvi) and Der Grüne Punkt are offering a jointly organized event in Cologne on 8 October 2020. Packaging-recycling experts provide an introduction to the topic, and users present some examples from shopfloor reality. In workshops, participants can explore the subject in more depth, and are given an opportunity to view the pilot plant of Der Grüne Punkt where engineers work on the development of new recyclates.
“The inescapable fact is that the recycling circuits for plastics must be closed. Utilizing recyclates is sustainable and constitutes a win-win situation for users, consumers and our natural environment alike,” is the firm conviction of Kim Cheng, Managing Director of the dvi. “Anyone keen to learn from frontline practitioners what is feasible today with plastic recyclates obtained from waste should not miss this event,” to quote Jörg Deppmeyer. You will find further information, the program offered and details on how to register online. The registration fee is 490 euros, for customers of Der Grüne Punkt and dvi members 390 euros.
Organization of the event is subject to the official regulations issued for controlling the coronavirus pandemic applicable at the time.
