10 Years of “Donate Your Deposit” at Cologne Bonn Airport

Der Grüne Punkt Celebrates Sustainability in Action at Cologne Bonn Airport

For a decade now, the “Donate Your Deposit” project has been impressively demonstrating how environmental protection and social commitment can go hand in hand. Der Grüne Punkt has been a partner of this initiative at Cologne/Bonn Airport from the very beginning – and is proud to be part of its success story.

Since 2015, around 3 million deposit bottles have been donated by travelers in the terminals. The resulting deposit proceeds – almost €740,000 – have financed jobs for formerly long-term unemployed individuals through the non-profit education provider JobWerk Porz. Der Grüne Punkt ensures that the collected empties are properly recycled and returned to the materials cycle.

The project stands for successful cooperation on equal footing with tangible benefits for both the environment and society. It takes on social responsibility, conserves resources, and creates jobs.

“Donate Your Deposit” collection containers can be found not only at Cologne/Bonn Airport, but also at the airports in Stuttgart, Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Paderborn, Bremen, and Nuremberg.
