1991 marks a milestone for Der Grüne Punkt: the German bring-and-collect system for used sales packaging started with the yellow bins in Bonn and the container stations in Potsdam. This not only marked the beginning of the successful history of the circular economy for packaging in Germany, but the "yellow collection of recyclables," the dual system alongside municipal residual waste disposal, became an international role model.
Three decades later, sustainability and climate protection increasingly determine corporate activities in Germany and Europe. The Green Dot makes its contribution through the recovery and recycling of used sales packaging and ensures savings of over 620,000 tons of climate-damaging greenhouse gases in 2020. An important contribution to a functioning circular economy and a joyful occasion to thank our customers for their often long-standing loyalty to the dual system with Der Grüne Punkt on the occasion of our 30th anniversary as an operationally active dual system! More than 32,000 international customers participate their packaging with us, use our services and follow the roadmap to less CO2 and more cost savings together with us. Thank you for that!
