Cologne, December 16, 2025. The GreenDot Group’s German subsidiary, Der Grüne Punkt group of companies, has published the Sustainability Report for the year 2024. The report provides comprehensive information on the company’s strategy and its rationale, key figures, measures, and further plans across all essential areas of action. Its content is aligned with the standards of the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB). The sustainability strategy is furthermore based on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which form a global framework for ecological, social, and economic action and serve as guiding principles for corporate conduct.

“This report highlights our initiatives to reduce environmental footprint, promote circularity, and create safe, inclusive working environments. We recognize that improving sustainability is a journey; the report documents our progress, the challenges we face, and our vision: a future in which resources are preserved, systems are designed to be regenerative, and communities are empowered”, explains Laurent Auguste, CEO of GreenDot, in his foreword.

Key Achievements in 2024

  • CO₂ savings and resource conservation: In 2024, 805.6 kilotons of packaging waste were recycled. This weight is roughly equivalent to 2.5 times that of Cologne Cathedral. In addition, the Systec Plastics plants in Hörstel and Eisfeld produced around 40.7 kilotons of recyclates – a weight comparable to 1.5 times that of Cologne’s Hohenzollern Bridge including its famous locks.

  • Advancing the circular economy: The group is strengthening the recyclability of polyolefins beyond PP and LDPE recycling. With the business in Italy and the TriPlast joint venture in Austria, a continuous supply of high-quality secondary raw materials is ensured. TriPlast is regarded as Europe’s most advanced sorting facility for plastic packaging.

  • Responsibility for environment and people: In 2024, the Der Grüne Punkt group again placed environmental and social responsibility at the core of its activities, improving its energy performance through energy management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001:2018 as well as sustainable construction and operational concepts. At its sites, the company relies on energy-efficient technology, process optimization, and measures such as heat recovery and electromobility to conserve resources and avoid fossil fuels.

  • Safe and inclusive working environment: The report also highlights the promotion of diversity and safety. Training initiatives and inclusive corporate culture programs were expanded to provide employees with a modern, sustainable working environment. The proportion of women in 2024 was 33 percent.

Dr. Ina-Maria Becker, Head of Sustainability at Der Grüne Punkt, emphasizes: “Our Sustainability Report clearly shows that we are already achieving remarkable progress in many areas – whether in promoting the circular economy or building an inclusive corporate culture. And for the first time, we have also calculated our carbon footprint across all three scopes (1, 2, and initial 3) to create transparency and establish the basis for further improvements. Nevertheless, we know this is not enough. With our ambitious goals, we aim to continuously evolve and become better year after year.”
