Developing solutions for a sustainable packaging cycle - this task brings together over 60 members in the Forum Rezyklat. Together they represent the value chain along the circular economy - traders, product and packaging manufacturers, disposal and recycling companies, science and politics as well as dual systems, including Der Grüne Punkt.

Packaging-related topics such as increasing the use of recyclates and improving the recyclability of packaging result in strategy and measure packages as well as in the development of consumer-related measures regarding waste separation. On 27 September 2022 in Düsseldorf, this received well-deserved public recognition in the form of the ECR Award 2022 in the new category "Sustainability Excellence".

Grüner Punkt is very pleased about the award for the Forum Rezyklat, as it sees it as confirmation of its commitment in the alliance and outside it. "Recyclate use, design for recycling, development of innovative recycling technologies - these topics make up a large part of the DNA of the Grüner Punkt group of companies. We are very pleased to be able to contribute our experience on this to the Forum Rezyklat," says Jörg Deppmeyer, Managing Director of Der Grüne Punkt. Furthermore, Der Grüne Punkt also supports the practical work of the Forum. Ursula Denison, for example, heads the "Design for Recycling" working group, which aims to create practice-oriented assistance for manufacturers and users of packaging with a view to optimised recyclability. This is particularly relevant because recyclability will mean a cost advantage in the future, both at European and national level. "The aim is to give manufacturers clear guidance on how they can make their packaging more recyclable and prepare themselves optimally for the coming legal obligations ", says the Green Dot expert, who is also pleased about the ECR Award, "because it confirms once again that a joint commitment to sustainability can have positive effects."

There was even double cause for celebration - our joint project on the use of recycled material in shrink films together with Nestlé Germany and Papier Mettler won 3rd place in the Sustainability category.
