Extended Deadline for Single-Use Plastics Reporting

The German Environment Agency (UBA) has extended the deadline for submitting quantity reports for 2024 from May 15 to June 15, 2025.

Since 2024, producers of to-go food containers, tobacco filters, and other single-use plastic items are subject to extended producer responsibility in Germany.  They are obliged to contribute financially to the costs of collection, cleaning and disposal in public areas as well as to waste education measures. The legal framework is set out in the Single-Use Plastics Fund Act.

The reporting obligation applies regardless of registration. The German Environment Agency (UBA) has now extended the deadline for submitting quantity reports for 2024 via the DIVID platform from May 15 to June 15, 2025. Additionally, UBA has exceptionally waived the requirement for external verification of the 2024 report by a registered auditor.
