The Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (Central Agency Packaging Register – ZSVR) and the Umweltbundesamt (German Federal Environment Agency - UBA) have presented the revised edition of the minimum standard for recyclable packaging. The minimum standard has been fundamentally revised and restructured to improve its application, readability, and user-friendliness, and to better integrate the requirements of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). It offers companies practical guidance on preparing for the PPWR, which will bring in its first regulations in August 2026.
What does this mean for companies?
By 2030, only packaging that is at least 70% recyclable may be put into circulation. The new minimum standard helps companies to assess recyclability early on and independently, and to implement the necessary adjustments in design and production in a legally compliant manner.
Save your seminar spot now – practical knowledge on the recyclability of packaging
Green Dot offers a compact seminar (in German) for anyone who wants to prepare for the new requirements of the 2025 minimum standard at an early stage. The focus is on the central question: When is packaging considered recyclable and when is it not? The seminar provides clear and practical information on how recyclability is assessed in accordance with Section 21 (3) of the Packaging Act. It offers valuable guidance, especially for bottlers and packaging manufacturers, on how to design packaging that is legally compliant and sustainable.
