The new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will become binding for companies across the entire supply chain, with stricter requirements for transparency, reuse, and traceability. To help companies prepare at an early stage, Der Grüne Punkt offers practical seminars that provide information about the new obligations that manufacturers will face in Germany and throughout the EU, and when these obligations will come into effect.

Fresh insights come from the PPWR Sentiment Index German Economy 2025, a joint study by Logistikbude GmbH, the Stiftung Initiative Mehrweg, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML.

The results show:

  • Only around 10 percent of companies currently meet the basic requirements.
  • More than 70 percent would like clear guidance, particularly in the form of guidelines, personal advice, and targeted seminars.
  • Knowledge determines progress: companies with a high level of expertise achieve an average implementation rate of 59 percent, while those with little knowledge achieve 36 percent.

Many companies are still hesitant, but those who act now can secure clear competitive advantages. “The greatest danger lies not in the regulation itself, but in waiting,” warn the authors of the study.
