The correct sorting of used sales packaging from the German yellow bag and the yellow garbage can is the be-all and end-all for the subsequent treatment and recycling processes of the sorted out recyclable fractions. After a long Corona stop, Der Grüne Punkt held a compact seminar on this at the end of October at MEILO, one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Germany. In this way, Der Grüne Punkt was finally able to meet the many requests of its customers again and show the participants in theory and practice how automatic LVP sorting works.
The sorting plant for LWP, which is operated by "MEILO Gesellschaft zur Rückgewinnung sortierter Werkstoffe mbH & Co. KG" operates in Germany at the Gernsheim site near Darmstadt on a 32,000 m² site and has a capacity of 120,000 tons of packaging waste per year. As the guests were then able to experience, between the input from the yellow recyclables collection and the output, i.e. the sorted bales of the individual recyclable fractions, the sorting paths in the factory halls are not immediately comprehensible to the eye. After the theoretical presentation of the sorting process by Der Grüne Punkt, the guided tour and the explanation of the individual sorting processes by the MEILO team in the factory halls on site were all the more important.
"Our guests are not only Green Dot customers, they are also consumers. As representatives of both target groups, they can not only experience in our seminars how important the correct filling of the yellow bags and garbage cans is for recycling, but also examine the use of state-of-the-art sorting technology for quality and yield," says Jörg Deppmeyer, Managing Director of Der Grüne Punkt.
Are you also interested in a recycling live compact seminar? Then it's worth taking a look at the event listings every now and then. Der Grüne Punkt is planning more sorting plant compact seminars (in German language) in the coming year. Then you have to be quick. As only a limited number of participants are permitted for safety reasons, experience shows that places are quickly filled.
