FACHPACK in Nuremberg has been an important meeting place for the packaging industry and its users for over 40 years. It sees itself as a signpost and guide for the industry. In line with this year's exhibition theme “An Industry in Transition” with its focus on sustainability, e-commerce and digitalization, Der Grüne Punkt will be presenting its range of sustainable packaging solutions.

The focus is on Systalen® LDPE recyclates of high quality, obtained from film recycling and reusable for the production of shrink films, e.g., for the beverage and food industries. “Through technical innovations, we have succeeded in producing a particularly pure Systalen® LDPE recyclate that can be used in films. So, film becomes film again, and packaging becomes packaging again. Together with our partners, we are now moving into large-scale technical application of this new product. This is a breakthrough in the recycling of film waste from the German yellow bag,” says Jörg Deppmeyer, managing director of Der Grüne Punkt.

Systalen® LDPE recyclates are manufactured in Thuringia by Systec Plastics Eisfeld GmbH. The company is a member of RAL-Gütegemeinschaft Rezyklate aus haushaltsnahen Wertstoffsammlungen e.V. – the RAL quality mark "% Recycling-Kunststoff" makes the plastics from post-consumer recycling (PCR) used traceable. The origin from the yellow bag or the yellow garbage can is thus certified. “Our Systalen® offers clear advantages for the environment and demonstrably closes the loop from film back to film,” sums up Jörg Deppmeyer.

In addition, Der Grüne Punkt will be presenting its “Design for Recycling” consulting solutions for sustainable packaging design. Those who already think about the recyclability of the material used in the packaging design and implement a recycling-friendly design reduce the consumption of non-renewable raw materials and enable true circular economy. Incidentally, this is also the binding direction for legislators, who are focusing on recycling-friendly design with the Packaging Act.
