As a central platform, Circular Valley connects companies, young innovation drivers, and experts to jointly develop solutions for a resource-efficient future. In 2026, the Circular Valley Convention Conference once again brought together an expo and networking opportunities, uniting leading decision-makers from business, start-ups, academia and politics. Under the guiding theme “Uniting Industries for a Circular Tomorrow”, the event once again offered a broad range of topics related to the circular economy.

This year, Der Grüne Punkt was once again present with its own booth in Düsseldorf, showcasing its current approaches for a functioning circular economy and presenting its latest product, “DigiDot.” The digital sorting guide supports consumers in correctly sorting and disposing of packaging. The principle is simple: via the website digi-dot.info or the Digi-Cycle app, users can search for products to receive regionally appropriate sorting and disposal instructions at the component level. In the future, the solution will become even more user-friendly: Manufacturers can attach the “DigiDot” QR code to packaging, which can be scanned directly with a smartphone browser - no app required. Already today, the system provides information on more than 1,000 waste types and around 50,000 branded products as well as over 250,000 collection points internationally.

A special highlight of the event was the speech by Environment Minister Carsten Schneider, who addressed the key future topics of the circular economy. He emphasized the enormous potential of the circular economy, the importance of Germany as an attractive investment location, and the role of the National Circular Economy Strategy (NKWS) platform in driving innovation. He also placed particular emphasis on the promotion of digital applications. In addition, he underlined the relevance of product passports, the advancement of packaging legislation, and textile take-back systems to further strengthen closed value chains.

Numerous conversations generated valuable impulses, new contacts, and inspiring ideas for sustainable solutions. A strong signal of how joint commitment can further advance the circular economy.
