Effective August 12, 2026, a new definition of “producer” will apply under the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation). Producers, importers or distributors established in an EU member state or a third country who directly supply end users in another member state are considered producers.

 

 

Producers are generally responsible for complying with the PPWR requirements regarding extended producer responsibility (EPR). In Germany, this also includes system participation. Companies not based in Germany may delegate this obligation to an authorised representative, such as Green Dot Rep GmbH.

What are the responsibilities of the authorised representative?

Green Dot Rep GmbH, as the authorised representative for extended producer responsibility, handles the fulfillment of your obligations under packaging law in Germany.

 

This includes:

 

  • licensing your packaging with Der Grüne Punkt
  • submitting volume reports in LUCID
  • communicating with the authorities in Germany

 

How does the authorised representative service work?

 

 

In our VerpackGO one-stop-shop you can easy and conveniently sign an authorised representative agreement with Green Dot Rep GmbH. You then designate Green Dot Rep GmbH as your authorised representative for extended producer responsibility with the Central Agency Packaging Register (ZSVR) in LUCID.

Once the contract is signed, Green Dot Rep GmbH will accept your authorisation in LUCID.
