Strategy, policies and practices

The Der Grüne Punkt Group is committed to complying with internationally recognised human rights, environmental and social standards.

These principles are enshrined in our code of conduct and apply to all employees and our business partners. We regularly ensure compliance through training and supplier evaluations. Responsibility for this lies with the respective representatives within the company, who report at regular intervals to the management, but also to all employees.

Equally important for the Der Grüne Punkt Group is compliance with company guidelines, occupational health and safety, fire safety and quality, environmental and energy management. These must be complied with, lived and further developed.

To implement these objectives, we have introduced an Integrated Management System (IMS). In its Integrated Management System Policy (IMS Policy), the Der Grüne Punkt Group has combined its quality, environmental, energy, occupational safety and health policies, taking into account all the requirements of international standards:

  • DIN EN ISO   9001 - Quality
  • DIN EN ISO 14001 - Environment
  • DIN EN ISO 50001 - Energy
  • DIN EN ISO 45001 - Occupational safety

On this basis, principles of conduct are considered an obligation for all employees in our Der Grüne Punkt Group.

Further important and fundamental building blocks for sustainable, economical and ecological action are laid down in the sustainability guidelines for procurement and in the purchasing policy.

The sustainability guidelines for procurement form the basis for all administrative procurement processes. Responsible use of available resources and the selection of products that are as environmentally friendly as possible are a matter of course and form the basis of procurement. Here are a few examples:

  • Where possible, subscriptions are ordered exclusively in digital format.
  • For office supplies, preference is given to regional and sustainable items, items with German ecolabel Der Blaue Engel (Blue Angel), FSC or Cradle-to-Cradle certification, and items made from recycled plastic.
  • Our purchasing guidelines also apply to Amazon Business, meaning that regional products, local sellers and items with sustainability certifications must be given preference.

The principles set out in our purchasing policy govern the procurement of goods and services and apply to all purchasing processes, including related upstream and downstream activities within the Der Grüne Punkt Group. They are in line with the company-wide code of conduct and the applicable principles on combating bribery, compliance with legal requirements and the delegation of authority. In addition, we take into account the principles for the prevention of human trafficking (see also GRI 401, 406, 408).

Only certified partners are selected as raw material suppliers. Preference is given to certifications in accordance with DIN EN 9001, 14001, 50001 and 45001.

In addition to these established and practised principles and processes, there are further specific strategic and operational QHSEE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, Energy) group targets. These are set for a period of three years and approved by the management.

The strategic fields of action, targets and individual operational measures relating to sustainability defined for the period 2025-2027 are presented here

The operational measures are monitored and evaluated at regular intervals and, if necessary, updated, supplemented and thus adapted to new conditions and developments. The overarching strategic goal always remains the focus, because this is the only way we can achieve our goals and continuously improve.

Practical environmental protection and a commitment to sustainability – that is what Der Grüne Punkt has stood for for almost 35 years. Our group of companies has long been cooperating with many partners who also pursue this goal. As a strong player in the circular economy, we regularly exchange ideas with interest groups and actively support numerous initiatives.
