Stretchfilm DUO EARTH YELLOW BACK with Systalen® Post Consumer Recyclate

Together with DUO PLAST, an innovative and customer-focused provider of comprehensive end-of-line solutions specializing in the production of high-quality, multi-layer co-extruded blown films, we have implemented a future-oriented project: the DUO EARTH YELLOW BACK stretch film - for the first time, incorporates at least 10% Systalen® post-consumer recycled material (PCR) from household waste (yellow bag/yellow bin) in its core layer.
For sophisticated, technical packaging such as stretch film, this is a true innovation, as packaging waste from household collection has never before been used for stretch film because the input stream is highly heterogeneous due to its origin and is therefore difficult to process.
The stretch film can be used for both manual and machine wrapping. Thanks to the high-quality properties of DUO PLAST blown films, this stretch film can be processed smoothly on existing packaging machines. This ensures high pallet stability and reliable load securing.
Since every kilogram of Systalen® LDPE that replaces new plastic has been proven to reduce the carbon footprint and conserve primary energy, DUO EARTH YELLOW BACK offers companies maximum product performance and flexibility combined with a clear environmental benefit.
Taking a look at the minimum recycled content requirements in plastic packaging (PPWR - Art. 7), the development of this stretch film also represents an important step toward closed-loop recycling systems and the future of packaging.

Stretch hood with post consumer recyclate from household collection
Together with DUO PLAST AG, one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of stretch films and hoods, and our partner Nestlé Germany we have realized an innovative new joint project: Stretch hoods in whose middle layer at least 20% post-consumer-recyclate from the Yellow Bag is used for the first time.
This is a real, innovative milestone in secondary and transport film packaging, as so far only PCR from post-commercial-source has been used in stretch hoods used for transport and load securing throughout the industry.
The use of PCR from household collection is a further step towards the sustainable, circular use of end consumer packaging.
Following the successful test phase, further trials are currently in progress in order to increase the proportion of Systalen® post-consumer-packaging with a view to the recyclate specifications in the PPWR (art. 7 - minimum recycled content in plastic packaging).
The pioneering joint project can be used for all common pallet formats in the food, chemical and construction industries.
We are very proud that this innovative product development has been awarded both the German Packaging Award 2024 in the Logistics & Material Flow category as well as the WorldStar Packaging Award 2025 in the Packaging Materials and Components category.
These important awards for the three project partners also shows once again how important and fruitful cooperation along the value chain is.
